Kol Banot (meaning both “Voices of /All Girls”), is a mother – daughter Bat Mitzvah journey, an opportunity for you to come together as a broad and diverse community and learn about this important and beautiful transition in our lives.

The time, whether in or before your Bat Mitzvah year, can be a very special bonding and growing opportunity and we hope this new mother/daughter program will enhance the moments and milestones for you both.

Though this experience is made to launch us into the Bat Mitzvah year, it will not be focused on the service, the religious aspects or the ceremony of the Bat Mitzvah, rather on growing up as a woman and a strong female in today’s world!

Together we will tackle questions of what is a Bat Mitzvah year? Where does our family come from? What are some family stories that have been handed down from generation to generation? What are the things we value as a family? What qualities would I want her to have as a woman growing up in this world? And much more… We hope that this will be a space for daughters and mothers to grow, ask questions and create community in a time of significance.

Together, as mother and daughter as well as families with other families, through games, discussions, food and art, we will search the beauty in change, dive into the depths of identity and conquer the complex topic of past, present and future. We hope that this will be a space for daughters and mothers to grow, ask questions and create community in a time of significance.

The group will meet 6 times at the homes of the participants (dates are on the attached flier), enjoying one another through activities, schmoozing, learning, eating, and more!

Please note, we hope no family will miss more than 2 sessions of the program. We also ask that each session will be attended by both mother and daughter. The evenings will be hosted in your homes and if you are able to host one of the program sessions, please update the google doc that will be shared after everyone finishes signing up.

This program will be co-led by Jenny Ackerman, a licensed Social Worker, who has vast experience working with families, a mother of three and wonderful member of our community, and Maia Tchetchik Sharir, a certified group facilitator and Organizational and Leadership consultant, a mother of three, and the dreamer of this program.

While the program is co-sponsored by Wornick and Peninsula Sinai Congregation it is open to all and we encourage everyone to join.  The cost of the program is $75 for each mother – daughter pair, to cover supplies. This does not cover the camping trip (if you will decide to join).

If you are interested, please register below. We look forward to taking this journey with you.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have.
