PSC is fortunate to have many talented and committed members who contribute to the operations and programming of the synagogue. Below are some of our most active committees. Click on the committee name to find out more.
Building and Grounds Committee
Mission: To maintain the PSC building and grounds in good condition, to solve problems related to our physical plant and equipment, to make building improvements as needed, to manage tenants, and to effectively manage the building fund.
Activities include:
- Updating the Sanctuary
- Remodeling the office space
- Landscaping the grounds
- Maintaining the building

Education Committee
Mission: To support all of PSC’s youth and family education and programming, including but not limited to, tots and children’s services, Kesher, B’Nei Mitzvah, Kabbalat Torah, and teens (collectively, “Youth Programs”) and the education director.
Activities include:
- Ensuring all Youth Programs are fun, ruach-filled and innovative
- Acting as a sounding board for the education director about Youth Programs and educational curricula
- Encouraging community building and engagement through Youth Programs (both with respect to existing PSC families and the recruitment of new families)
- Coordinating volunteers for our Youth Programs

Young Family Committee
Mission: To engage children from birth to B’nei Mitzvah and their families in a variety of programs to grow, learn, and celebrate Judaism.
Activities include:
- Celebrating Sukkot with a community-wide dinner
- Supporting weekly Tot Shabbat service
- Sending monthly email geared specifically towards families with young children
- Having fun with PJ Havdalah

Finance Committee (Board-appointed)
Mission: To ensure the synagogue’s use of accounting and financial management best practices. To develop and maintain a 5 year financial model, providing high level guidance to longer term financial questions.
Activities include:
- Managing an endowment
- Maintaining the 5-year financial forecast model
- Making recommendations regarding financial management of parsonage house

Budget Committee (Board-appointed)
Mission: To develop a detailed annual operating budget based on synagogue’s vision.
Activities include:
- Updating current year budget and incorporating relevant changes for upcoming year
- Presenting budget to Board for approval.

Hesed v’Tzedek Committee
Mission: To support fellow congregants in their times of need, such as an illness, a new baby, or a death in the family.
Activities include:
- Providing home-cooked meals
- Providing gift baskets to families with new babies
- Making phone calls to those in need of companionship

Peninsula Sinai Men’s Club
Mission: To provide education opportunities, support PSC youth in Jewish religious/cultural activities, help with fundraising, and cultivate camaraderie among PSC men.
Activities include:
- Holding latke festivals
- Building the PSC sukkah annually
- Planting landscaping around PSC

Peninsula Sinai Women
Mission: To make Judaism meaningful and to develop the personal growth of each of our members and promote friendship through programs that are religious, educational, cultural, civic, social and recreational.
Activities include:
- Running PSC’s Judaica Store
- Running Women’s Seder
- Organizing Mishloach Manot for entire congregation

Religious Practices Committee
Mission: To create clarity, consistency and transparency around community standards and expectations as they pertain to Jewish ritual.
Activities include:
- Coordinating High Holy Days honors
- Upgrading Machzorim
- Reviewing and editing policies regarding religious practices under guidance of mara d’atra

Security Committee
Mission: To evaluate and establish infrastructure to maintain safety of members of PSC community while on building grounds.
Activities include:
- Working with local authorities to provide security during particularly high risk times
- Maintaining the security system
- Upgrading building security to increase safety
